Jedi is one trustworthy pup.The service dog is more reliable than many of the tools Luke Nuttall, a 7-year-old boy with Type 1 diabetes, has to track his blood sugar levels. He proved himself when he jumped on Luke’s mom, Dorrie Nuttall, in the middle of the night on March 4 to try and get her attention.Courtesy of Dorrie NuttallLuke Nuttall with his service dog JediOnce she was fully awake, she pricked Luke’s finger and got 57, which was way too low.”Luke was laying right next to me, just inches from me, and without Jedi I would have had no idea that he was dropping out of a safe range,” Nuttall wrote on Facebook.

“He has never woken up on his own for a low in over 4 and a half years. We are his safety net, he goes to bed every night, and although he doesn’t know it he relies 100 percent on us to keep him safe overnight.”RELATED: 6-year-old boy has tear-jerking reunion with missing dog in Lubbock, TexasAfter receiving Jedi in November 2012, the family from Glendale, California, started training him to become a diabetic alert dog, with the help of Canine Hope for Diabetics and he’s now able to use his nose to detect warning signs.

“This may just look like a dog, a sleeping boy and a number on a screen, but this, this moment right here is so much more,” Nuttall wrote on Facebook. “This is a picture of Jedi saving his boy. Saving him from highs and lows and from ever feeling alone.”Courtesy of Dorrie NuttallLuke Nuttall with his service dog JediRELATED: Watch this missing dog’s adorable reunion with his happy ownerJedi is not only a service dog, he’s Luke’s best friend. A true “Star Wars” love story!”They never leave each other’s sides,” Nuttall told TODAY.com. “Jedi follows Luke to all his doctor’s appointments, playdates and even school.”They love chasing each other around the house and always enjoy a good game of fetch.”Jedi really lightens the mood,” Nuttall said. “He makes Luke laugh a lot, which is nice when we’re dealing with things that are definitely not funny.”
