This extra-adorable little fellow is Clay, a friendly, affectionate, and gentle dog who loves nothing more than receiving kisses from his human friends. Despite his young age, Clay is a very calm and well-behaved dog who is always eager to please. He is a smart dog who is quick to learn and responds well to positive reinforcement and treats. Unfortunately, Clay's previous owner passed away, leaving him and four other small dogs alone, and searching for a new home and family. He is used to other small dogs, and also used to a quiet and predictable lifestyle, which is what we seek for him. Larger dogs and young children will ge concerning, and we place great emphasis on homes with private, fully fenced yards. Clay is in good health, neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. He tested negative for heart worms and is on prevention. Clay is a wonderful companion who is looking for a loving home where he can be showered with affection and care. Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Petfinder inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of Clay and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and your family to meet Clay at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting him and determining that he matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner.
