Canadian airlines let wildfire evacuees bring pets onboard | PetsOnBoard.com

As thousands of Fort McMurray residents were forced to flee the devastating wildfire, two Canadian airlines ensured no four-legged friend was left behind.WestJet and Canadian North have been letting evacuees from the stricken city bring their pets into the passenger cabin of the plane with them.”People have just shown up there with whatever they could grab, pets included,” WestJet spokeswoman Lauren Stewart told Buzzfeed.

So the pets sat on their owners’ laps, in the aisles of the plane – and in some special cases, their very own seats.

A Canadian North spokesperson told Huffington Post Canada: “It’s definitely unusual to carry pets in the cabin, but due to the unusual circumstances we were able to bend the rules to accommodate these animals.
